ReplyDeleteWhen was this pic taken Jason Wright? Some of that area was burnt out with the recent wildfires. I live just a bit south in Rutherford.
ReplyDeleteKristina This was taken yesterday. It's kind of interesting... I drove up to St. Helena a week ago from the Bay Area along the 29 and then from St. Helena to Inverness and only saw one little bit of fire damage. (I'll post that picture tomorrow) Everyone I talked to at the retreat I was at in St. Helena mentioned how close the fires were and how bad the smoke was - and there were "thank you first responders!" signs up EVERYWHERE - but the routes I took avoided almost all of the fire damage.
ReplyDeleteOur experience was very similar as you describe. Atlas and Nuns wild fires
ReplyDeletecame within a mile and a half a mile (respectfully) to our property but
first responders held them back. As a result, the Napa valley was spared.
Sonoma was hard hit. You probably some some of the damage caused by the
Tubbs fires. But there was lots of smoke. We didn't evacuate and had to
wear masks on many days during the peak of fire activity.
Kristina We got the smoke pretty badly, even down in Pacifica. I can't imagine what it must have been like to actually be near the fires. (edit: the thumbnail doesn't show it but this is a before/after comparison of the smoke over Pacifica taken from Montara Mountain)
