On nights such as two nights ago, with no fog to help me cheat, long shots of the Farallon Islands really require the tripod or they tend to be a bit soft. Like this one. The boat would have been well out of frame by the time I'd gotten the full rig set up.

Oh man ya I was stationed at camp Pendleton from 1980 thru 1990 wow I was a huey uh- 1n models. And J and T and Whiskey models but mainly Hueys. . I got over 2000 flight hours. So wow I had a unbelievably stunning views. Sometimes I could not believe its beauty was real. Going feet wet out of Pendleton and heading north. And I loved being like 400 ft AGL just off the coast and just having the cabin doors pinned back and hanging out going by the Big Surr. Mind blowing. Or heading over and threw the Seira range. Heading to Tahoe. . One morning we were tree top coming up pulling power to crest a beautiful plateau. And as we hang up over and it was a chilli misty morning. . And right In front of us a bunch of wild horses hanging out chillin' and grazing. . I thought when we saw their majestic manes. .hanging on the ground we were being touched by GOD I felt so privileged to witness their beauty and power as they galloped just below us we pulled power and yanked a zoom climb so not to infringe on their space. Just magical memories. . Ok I'm rambling. . Hows it? ? Be cool every one. .

ReplyDeleteThat's a great, one in million shot...I use to go out there and try, to take pic of the Fallon Islands... My father was stationed there a short time in the Army...1940'ish. Within that decade anyway. We would both go and sit and watch the waves and mammals ..
